Imnaha TAC Amalthea, Tacitus’ first daughter to freshen (a Yearling) and one of our sale does who went to Texas. She is rated at the 89th percentile, but didn’t earn her AR Star, since she wasn’t on Test long enough to complete the requirements.

TOOT TOOT!

Big changes at Imnaha Nubians!

We have just completed the sale that we had been working on for over a year of most of our goat herd. We did NOT disperse the herd—we reduced it. The goats that left are on their way to Texas and will be part of a new goat cheese operation there. We are so proud and excited that our herd was one of those chosen to participate in this endeavor, and we hope to continue working with them in the future.

In the meantime, we have retained our three herdsires and does from our core bloodlines, most of whom are kids! We kept one milking doe, one yearling, and five of this year’s doe kids, all out of top does we sold or lost this past year. Now that the herd is much smaller, we hope to have more time to enjoy life, as well as our goats, as we get older. We aim to continue on DHIA test and hopefully attend at least one show during the coming year. Most of our does will not be bred this year, since they are kids. They will be held over and bred next year.

Stay tuned!

One of our does made the ELITE DOE List! Imnaha AL Zelda made it at the 95th percentile! Congrats to our friends at Goatroper Farms where she now resides! Our own doe Imnaha AL Lady Corazon just missed being on the list at the 94th percentile. We are hoping their sire +*B Wingwood Farm TBL Alaric will be on the winter ELITE Buck list when he is projected to finally get a Fluid Merit $ and percentile ranking. His Milk PTA is 152, Fat PTA is 12.9 and Protein PTA is 5.8.

Imnaha Nubians is located near Imnaha in beautiful Northeastern Oregon on a small farm of roughly eleven acres. We raise our animals to be highly productive, with correct conformation and breed type, and to be beautiful, friendly, easy to handle individuals. Our Nubian dairy goats are top-quality stock, based on foundation animals coming from the Wingwood, Woest-Hoeve, and Grande Ronde Nubian herds. All of our goats are ADGA-registered purebreds. While we have a comparatively small herd, we aim for the very highest quality.

You may rest assured that any animal you purchase from us is G6S-free. The animals in our herd have either been tested directly, or their parents or grandparents have, so that we can offer this guarantee. We are always glad to furnish documentation of that status whenever selling animals. In addition, all of our bucks are DNA-typed in accordance with ADGA requirements, and we are in the process of determining the Alpha S1 Casein status of our herd. So far, we have A-, B-, and N- variants.

We participate in Performance Programs as offered by ADGA to prove our stock. Our herd has been on continuous DHIA test since 2015, and in addition, we try to do Linear Appraisal at least every other year. That’s been a bit rocky the past couple of years during the Covid-19 pandemic, but we hope to do another Appraisal in 2024. While we greatly enjoy showing, we don’t do much of that anymore, due to limitations of time, money, and distance, though when shown our animals always perform well due to our insistence on correct conformation.
